It’s absence is due in no small part to the late Norma McCallum not being around anymore, but NZTA/KCDC’s uglification also has to take the blame:

The barcode bridge — it would only take a few hours early on a Sunday morning with a pick-up truck carrying a pressure washer on it to make it look clean again.

The metallic grey / shiny chrome clip-on pedestrian and cyclist lane from 2024 contrasts with the rusty ballustrade on the east side — again it wouldn’t require much volunteer effort with some donated silver paint to match the west side and make it look better.

Those ugly yellow bollards which replaced the attractive low stone wall that KCDC demolished and dumped: maybe some creative puppet-type sleeves put over the top of them?

The median between the Elizabeth Street and the Ngaio Road intersections: more ugly brown grasses.
