A few decades ago, an untreated sewage outlet near the north end of Bondi Beach in Sydney would, in certain conditions, result in turds floating about the beaches, particularly during the 1970s and 1980s which were named ‘Bondi Cigars’. The ones Dougherty has caused on Wellington’s south coast could be called ‘Moa Point Cigars’, but they should be named after him.
