While Prime Ministers come and go, Larry the Cat just keeps showing up for work.
With Keir Starmer’s resignation, Larry has now served under six UK Prime Ministers since moving into 10 Downing Street in 2011 — and is preparing to welcome a seventh.
Larry the Cat is the official Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office at 10 Downing Street, the residence and office of the UK Prime Minister.
Larry arrived at Downing Street in 2011 after being adopted from the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. His job is to help control mice around the historic building, though he’s become far more famous for his long political career.
From David Cameron to Keir Starmer, Larry has survived political chaos, leadership battles, and countless cabinet reshuffles.
At this point, many Brits joke that Larry is the most stable resident Downing Street has had in over a decade.
