As mentioned in earlier years, this site is a voluntary labour of love — and it occupies a lot of time — by our 3 editors and several contributors, and we plan for it to stay that way. But we have external costs which hurt our pocketbooks and they go up like most other things do.
We are one of only a few websites in NZ — and the only one in Kapiti — that sets out to be contrarian to the Establishment by investigating their narratives and exposing where they doesn’t stand up. We also present news items that the Mainstream Media ignores or distorts for political reasons. And we try to entertain to some extent.
Our hosting, storage and traffic fees for this year are about the same as last year but the software charges have gone up over 20%; they seem to expect their customers to pay for new developments regardless of whether we use them.
If you can help us with a donation that will really be appreciated.

Is the time coming when your site should become more ‘Kapiti-Wide’?
Otaki & it’s environs are part of our district. On that note, do you know that according to council sources that would rather remain anonymous that the Otaki Memorial Hall & Library are set for demolition because of earthquake fears? Or that the Otaki pool is set to have a $15,000,000 upgrade? This is all very wonderful being that your average Otaki ratepayer has endured higher rate increases than other parts of Kapiti. The sad thing about all this is these Northern ratepayers would like but will not receive a drive-able main arterial road after spending millions on digging up and laying pipes all along Mill Road. Over long in the doing, over-budget in the spending and now the final slap in the face, tar-seal over a very rough job. How nice for Southeners to have a main drag like Kapiti Road which is totally & fully Hot-Mixed. Still when this entire district amalgamates yet again into a bigger conglomeration (be it to the south or north) to make it easier for the cut-rate politicians to bleed us dry, Southern ratepayers will get a taste of what Otaki ratepayers have been chewing on since the 1986 amalgamation.
There are only so many hours in the day and we can’t do everything to you propose without advertising revenue coming in so we can pay people to do more. Maybe we should, and that’s what we have held off on for the last 11 years. We’ll see what comes in with this appeal and then decide whether or not to.
I would love to help out but owing to the fact that Waikanae watch is so strictly aligned to one sided support for the National party and and often expresses reports for the local candidate Costley only I will hold off .
Ok i understand you are a great fan of his and he does no wrong in your eyes he is also working along with all the other bent national policies designed to direct the views of the WEF agenda , digital surveillance and digital currency , one world governing , forced medication and other atrocities to human kind ! ( all influenced by unelected global corporate elites )
Would love to see such vigorous reporting for some of those other smaller parties and candidates that are our only chance of ever escaping the NZ Govt system of ” bi-partisan governing ” leading us down the road to ruin !
The current “corporate style government system of national / labour has failed us all and both being aligned to global agenda and waikanae watch views show one sided thought only .
The problem with the legacy media is bias to labour ( as they get the propaganda funding )
The problem with waikanae watch is they also only show their allegiance to the right side of the game .
Never hear anything about the likes of say Sue grey and the battles they fight against the tyranny of the bi-partisan system !
Only ever how wonderful costly is and how he built the expressway all by himself etc etc etc !
Obviously im not a fan of either of the puppets that get to swap batons when the people want real change
It’s not unquestioning support and there have been occasions when we’ve been critical of what National have said and done. The rest of the media in this district is pro-Labour/Green and that’s a big reason why their candidates were successful last in October’s council election and why we got a Maori ward and $3 million+ spent on the tri-iwi by KCDC a year.
