BERLIN/PARIS (ANP) – France and Germany are for the first time taking concrete steps towards their plans to conduct joint exercises with French nuclear weapons. A French fighter jet capable of being equipped with such weapons will refuel together with a German fighter at a German air force base.
France, the only nuclear power on the European mainland, wants to share its ‘nuclear umbrella’ more with European allies. Germany is receptive to this idea, now that Europe feels increasingly threatened by Russia again and is less certain of American protection. Both countries agreed earlier to hold joint nuclear exercises, among other things. The Netherlands is also discussing closer cooperation with France and could eventually join.
The joint refueling of the Rafale and Eurofighter on Thursday coincides with talks between the governments of France and Germany at a castle nearby. Defense cooperation is the central focus there.
The first obvious problem is that France is is only one of two countries on the European mainland with nuclear weapons — the other is Russia, and it has a lot of them — about 5,500 warheads — enough to turn all of Nato territory into a radioactive wasteland. France on the other hand has 290. The second problem is that if they nuke various parts of Russia as part of Operation Barbarossa 2, then Russia will nuke them back — mutually assured destruction or MAD. It’s clear this is all aimed at preventing the National Rally Party in France and the AfD in Germany from consolidating their support to stop this insane march towards World War 3 — see this article
