The whole time I went to school between ages 5 and 17 back in the 1960s and 1970s I got the bus to and from school and often in primary school (in Karori) I used to walk — about a mile each way. Maybe 3 or 4 times a year I got a car ride from someone who lived in our neighborhood.
These days the streets around schools between about 8:45 and 9 am and 2:45 to 3:10 pm are clogged with mothers (sometimes fathers) doing school runs in their cars, many of which are 3-tonne SUVs. I often wonder how many of them are people who vote for the Climate Cult parties, Labour and Green, particularly in Wellington, and then just don’t follow what they vote for.
Are kids simply too lazy to walk these days?
It’s because they have all this important activities to do on their phones so have no time to look where they are going.

I lived in Calgary for 9 years where we had 2 seasons, Winter and Stampede Week (July) The photographer is interesting too, Nicole Roach, Green Communities Canada, Can guess where political views are I would be interested to listen to the article.
