Illegal dumping, or fly-tipping, harms our environment, creates eyesores, and is costly to clean up. Last financial year alone, we received 439 reports of illegally dumped rubbish across the district (that means 439 clean-ups!).

Dumping waste in our environment isn’t the answer. Before throwing something away, think about whether it could be reused, donated, repaired, recycled, or composted.Community groups, op shops, repair cafés, Otaihanga Zero Waste, and using recycling services can all help give your stuff a second life.Together, we can keep Kāpiti clean, reduce landfill waste, and protect the places we love.
