This article on the DominionPost (stuff.co.nz) website is about a couple of walkers who called police to tell them they were lost in the bush in the Hemi Matenga Memorial Park behind Waikanae at 7.10 pm on Tuesday and did not know how to get out.

They set off on the walk earlier in the afternoon and became lost, police said. A search team began looking for the pair, who were found just after 9.15 pm.

We recommend not setting out on walks without studying the terrain first (Google maps has a topography–or contours–version) and aim to complete it in good daylight.
