On the metallic gold car livery we thought this looked neat. đŸ™‚
Also noticed has been Bernie Randall’s campaign car, who is standing in the Paraparaumu Ward.
David Roil is one of the candidates standing for the Waikanae Community Board we recommend.
He says, “Reid Strang of Waikanae asked on Neighbourly, “what is the Waikanae Community Board’s function?” He was unaware of its existence until he saw the election billboards.
“That says it all – how ineffective is the existing WCB when residents dont even know it exists.
“Reid, Kapiti Coast runs a three tier local body system, with the Mayor, supposedly coordinating 9 councillors [actually 10], four of whom represent the wards of Otaki [1], Waikanae [1], Paraparaumu-Raumati [2] and Paekakariki [1].
“The four wards have a community board which is supposed to coordinate and advocate for the ward residents, on all matters which KCDC and other authorities should be acting on.
“Due to the the “near-death defying acts?” of our Waikanae Community Board many feel that Waikanae is not getting its fair amount of attention and action from KCDC. Hence there is a big drive to get our Waikanae residents to vote and to seriously look at the merits of the candidates.
“I can assure you I will be energetically trying to get the community groups working as one. I believe that the function of WCB members is to ensure all the resources are available and to present the communities requests to Council and any other authority. The WCB is not an expert group making its own decisions, it must gather all the concerns and input from the community and get the next three years critical changes underway – Oh, and communicate back to you.”
