Of course, Kapiti Island isn’t a volcano (as far as we know); co-incidentally though, Matariki this year, 10 June, is the date of the biggest volcanic eruption in recent history, that of Mt Tarawera on 10 June 1886 which destroyed the famous Pink and White Terraces and changed the landscape in the region substantially.
