In an earlier post we pointed out the council website documents made mention of this, but only gave the results to councilors and didn’t put this document on its website.
Well, here are the results of the questions which asked people’s perceptions of the council, and the reason why the document wasn’t put on the council website is obvious.
Most significant:
- only 19% thought the council makes good decisions
- only 35% were satisfied with value for money
It’s sure to be a safe assumption that the small number who answered “very satisfied” to “value for money” and “the council makes good decisions” are family members of the top bureaucrats and councilors.
As a Previous Waikanae councillor I am very disappointed in the continual discouraging replies from the electorate, which shows a complete lack of transparency and communication with the community in so many aspects, together with a disregard with communities concerns, such is the debacle!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst of all is the amount of council and committee time spent in “public excluded” sessions. At the first council meeting of the year this amounted to 4 out of 5 1/2 hours. Guru promised to change that in last year’s election campaign — he’s done nothing. More observations about that soon.
