This year proved to be as eventful as expected for Waikanae with the opening of the ‘Ewy’ which, psychologically at least, has separated the Waikanae Beach zone from the rest of Waikanae and the commencement of works for the huge Maypole development nearby which likewise will have a major impact.

Next year the council has promised to do something to improve the town centre experience.

We continue to meet new people and make new friends.  Thanks go to our contributors; most articles have been on shenanigans at the council and although they get plenty of hits, we also want to post about positive things: local good sorts, local achievers and just pretty photos.

We wish readers, friends and supporters a happy Christmas and holiday period.

And to the handful of enemies, we take encouragement from the quote attributed to Winston Churchill: “You have enemies? Good. It means you have stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
