Downtown L.A. was 92° F (33° C) today, up from the mid-60s of last week; speeds being recorded on the freeways are also way up according to the California Highway Patrol with double the usual number of tickets being issued for speeds over 85 mph (137 km/h).  The volume of traffic on the highways is only about a third the normal, however.
