Just proves that any Ministers of Finance or Labour can play with any of the figures to create an impression that they know what they are talking about. They announced a week ago that the unemployment rate has dropped to 3.9%. All clap please. What should have been stated is that those on a benefit, (job seeker) ready for work, is 112,056 up from 64,299 in September 2017, an increase of 42.6%. The number of all working age (18 to 64) receiving a benefit has increased from 277,227 in September 2017 to 359,493 in September 2021, and increase of 22.9%. Not my figures, MSD as shown above, which we all know that the Government would have seen.
