Don’t the Greenies keep insisting CO2 is bad? It’s actually essential
- A carbon dioxide crisis looms after major manufacturer announces shut down
- CF Industries has decided to halt production at its Billingham plant in Teesside
- The firm supplies roughly 40 per cent of the country’s carbon dioxide
- A Whitehall source said some food and drink firms may suffer shortages
They use CO2 for plant growth but also for suffocating pigs. They lower them into pits full of the gas on a giant rotisserie, with cages that hold four or five pigs at a time. Horrific way to die, the gas forms a strong acid when it interacts with saliva and the pigs go nuts trying to escape, kicking the hell out of each other. Next time you drive past your local abattoir look for the long white CO2 gas cylinders outside. It is the industry standard for killing pigs.
