Most people in NZ are unlikely to have heard of the group, will assume it has something to do with Gay Pride and wonder why a Leftist regime would do that. However, it seems Comrade Jacinda and Obergruppenführer Coster didn’t like their white nationalist ideology — that white people should be the dominant cultural and political group. But they had no problem with TPM wanting the same thing for brown people with the right bloodlines in NZ.

The statement on the website of the New Zealand Gazette — the newspaper of the Government — is bland and brief.

“On 19 June 2025 pursuant to section 29B of the Terrorism Suppression Act 2002 (TSA), the designation of The American Proud Boys expired,” it says. “Any person who deals with the property of The American Proud Boys (APB) is no longer liable to prosecution for an offence under [the Act].”

Quite a contrast to three years ago when New Zealand hit headlines around the world for classifying the Proud Boys as a terrorist organisation.
