This is the domain on the beach side of Tutere St among the macrocarpa trees. There are 4 new benches being put in.

The area in the pic had a bench there before but is being expanded and made disability-friendly. We asked the contractor about the dark edging, and it is supposed to make it more visible for those in wheelchairs. He wanted to put glow-in-the-dark paving stones there (see pic below) but the Council baulked at the $2,500 cost. “The council is trying to save money on its budgets,” he told us. That’s nice to hear but it’s inconsistent with other things it is planning to squander big money on like so-called “economic development.”
