Inspired by Monty Python, ancient Greek myths, the Surrealists, slapstick humour and CIA whistleblowers, this fun little satire uses animation and music to expose some of the many Hunking great scandals that the Canadian government and various corporate propaganda-mongers are keen to keep hidden.

Besides being jam-packed with back-to-back goodly amounts of bizarre visual antics, this film packs a lighthearted punch with many hard-hitting facts that challenge a slew of ridiculous official narratives.

Viewers must also be warned, however, that the film also gets down to the seriously silly business of proposing “The Sisyphean Dung-Ball Theory of Social Change.” Huh? What’s all this actually about anyway?

On 22 September 2023, after visiting Washington, President Zelenskyy dropped in on Canada’s Parliament. The Speaker of the House took that dignified and stately opportunity to make the biggest faux pas of his political life. With great gusto, he hailed a Ukrainian Waffen SS veteran, Yaroslav Hunka, who was sitting up in the bleachers watching the spectacle unfold.

When this former SS man was praised as a “hero” for having “fought the Russians” during WWII, every single MP immediately jumped to their feet and gave a loud enthusiastic ovation of applause for this Nazi collaborator. It was quite a day, and Canada has arguably been a slightly different place ever since.

It hasn’t been different enough mind you, but these things take time. Certain Canadian myths and narratives have been taking a bit of beating since then, but there’s a still a long way to go before we can even hope to dream of doing away with the diehard fake news that Canada is a wondrous beacon of peace, justice, democracy and joy enlightening the world.

The REAL scandal here is NOT that Canadian politicians saluted Hunka as a hero. He was only one of more than 4,000 Ukrainian veterans from ethnofascist military formations that Canada gave safe haven to after WWII. Every Canadian government since then has funded Ukrainian groups that use monuments, publications, events and programs to glorify their Nazi-collaborating heroes.
