No, this is not an April Fool’s joke, although that’s what we thought it was on first seeing the MSM headline.
There have been several articles by different commentators about him, none of which cast him in a favourable light. Here is a good example from 2020.
But given that ‘Pinky’ got the accolade last year, it’s probably no surprise.
Oh God, I was doing well so far with the day and then this, Tipene and Mark Soloman : everything Maori did not need or deserve.
Why did he get the award? Who were the judges?
Was Ardern one of them, perhaps Nana Mahuta and Sillie Jackson too?
Gotta be joking
God what has this country come to.
Perhaps we need President Zelensky running the country instead of this pile of dead-heads.
Not Zelensky.
“There have been several articles by different commentators about him, none of which cast him in a favourable light”? Instead of praising the accomplishments of the man, the tall poppy syndrome is there for everyone to see in the “good” example authored by Andy Oakley who is no friend of the truth by any stretch of the imagination.
I think we need to get out of the rabbit hole and listen to some of the MSM such as Stuff, 1News, NZ Herald, RNZ. TV One News reports Tā Tipene is a strong advocate for equity and has a profound belief in the principles of Te Tiriti. His idea is that the Treaty is for all people in Aotearoa, not just Māori. He goes on to say “there are people who are here by right of indigeneity, and there are people who are here by right of the Treaty. And so, the Treaty is important to us all as a foundational thing. It’s not just some sort of thing that works only for Māori.”
This recognition is not just for the role he played in Ngāi Tahu’s Treaty Settlement, but for a lifetime advocating for Ngai Tahu iwi and Maori. In the last 12 months, he has been promoting green energy and finding solutions for the Southland region post-Tiwai aluminium smelter closure, continuing his work on marine reserves, strengthening the iwi’s archives, and furthering the education of the next generation.
Steven O’Regan has certainly been very successful at enriching himself and the elites of the iwi he identifies with, mostly at Taxpayer expense. Our question, Wayne/Chris/Stephen et al, is if you believe what this regime’s paid Legacy Media propagandists have to say, why do you read us? Are you paid by a government department or agency for doing so and which one(s)?
