“There is a simple fix to the Gib Board crisis,” says New Conservative Housing Spokesperson, Bruce Welsh.

“As an architect, every week I get calls from builders asking if an alternative plasterboard can be purchased and used on their project.  Also from potential importers asking if they can import a board from some other country.  Most often I have to say, ‘No’.”

Gib Board is used for bracing, fire protection and acoustic separation in the New Zealand Building Code as well as general wall linings.  Most overseas manufactured plasterboard does not have certification to show that they meet these specific requirements.

The simple solution is to quickly appoint a person or body to review plasterboard manufactured overseas and assess their testing data for equivalence with New Zealand requirements.  This body would then issue a Product Technical Statement that Councils would accept, stating where each plasterboard can be used.  This gives certainty to builders using alternatives and importers wanting to import them.

“We don’t need a task force.  We need quick and direct action, not another expensive endless talk fest.  The Building Act already has a system in place that can be used.  Let’s get construction moving again,” says Mr Welsh.

New Conservative can also see this approach being applied to other building materials to give a wider supply option for builders.

Although Mr Maxwell’s term officially expires this Thursday, he has for all intents and purposes been gone several weeks if not most of the time since his heart attack last December. We sent an official information request to the Council about this, but all Maxwell’s in-house lawyer Mr Power would respond is that the Council did not keep records on his attendance at the HQ, and by implication Mr Maxwell was making no statement on that. Reading between the lines, that says that he has not been seen for most of this year, but of course he has still been collecting his $6,000 a week salary courtesy of Ratepayers.

A new study endorsed by the World Health Organization has found that the risks of mRNA Covid-19 vaccination heavily outweigh the benefits, with scientists discovering a person is on average 339% more likely to suffer a serious adverse event such as cardiac arrest, stroke, or death due to the Pfizer Covid-19 injection than they are to be hospitalised with Covid-19.

In 2020, prior to the Covid-19 vaccine rollout, the ‘Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations’ and ‘Brighton Collaboration’ created a priority list, endorsed by the World Health Organization, of potential adverse events relevant to covid ‘vaccines.’

The list comprised adverse events of special interest (AESIs), adverse events associated with prior vaccines in general, theoretical associations based on animal models, and Covid-19 specific immunopathogenesis; the process of disease development involving an immune response or components thereof.

The World Health Organization’s Global Advisory Committee both endorsed and recommended the reporting of AESIs based on this priority list.

Scientists then sought to investigate the association between FDA-authorized mRNA COVID-19 vaccines and serious adverse events identified by the Brighton Collaboration, using data from the still ongoing phase III randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials on which emergency authorisation was based.

Scientists discovered that in the Moderna trial, the excess risk of serious AESIs (15.1 per 10,000 participants) greatly surpassed the risk reduction for COVID-19 hospitalization relative to the placebo group (6.4 per 10,000 participants). This means recipients of the Modern injection were and are 140% more likely to suffer a serious adverse event than they are to be hospitalised with Covid-19.

In the Pfizer trial, the excess risk of serious AESIs (10.1 per 10,000) surpassed the risk reduction for COVID-19 hospitalisation relative to the placebo group (2.3 per 10,000 participants). This means recipients of the Pfizer injections were and are 339% more likely to suffer a serious adverse event than they are to be hospitalised with Covid-19.

Combined, the mRNA vaccines were associated with an absolute risk increase of serious adverse events of special interest of 12.5 per 10,000 (95% CI 2.1 to 22.9).

The excess risk of serious adverse events of special interest surpassed the risk reduction for Covid-19 hospitalization relative to the placebo group in both Pfizer and Moderna trials (2.3 and 6.4 per 10,000 participants, respectively).

The combined risk reduction for Covid-19 hospitalisation equates to 4.35 per 10,000 participants. Therefore, recipients of mRNA Covid19 injections were and are on average 187% more likely to suffer a serious adverse event than they are to be hospitalised with Covid-19.

Food shortages are likely as a result of the government’s failure to take action to stop the Marsden Point oil refinery from closure.

The refinery was a major supplier of carbon dioxide to NZ industry but its closure in March has put severe pressure on a wide range of businesses.

CO2 is used widely in the food industry – in packaging and to preserve the shelf life of cheese, preserved meats, some chicken products, and in ready-to-eat meals, sparkling wine, fizzy drinks, and beer. 

Significant uses are also in the health care industry, the fabrication of metal, cooling, fire suppression, in greenhouses to stimulate plant growth, for water treatment and in the production of fertiliser.

Many of those users are only getting 50 percent of their needed requirements from the country’s only other supplier and are facing either having to cut production or costly CO2 imports which would push prices for their products higher.

For shoppers that means shortages on supermarket shelves, higher prices, or both.

In the paper presented by Minister of Energy Megan Woods to cabinet last September (written by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment), carbon dioxide gets only one brief paragraph —  “Food-grade liquid carbon dioxide, used in the food and beverage sector and in some water treatment plant, is currently produced at the refinery and at the Kapuni gas processing plant in Taranaki … Closure of the refinery will challenge the CO2 supply chain – particularly a short lead time to make necessary investments or relocate plant”. 

Another by-product of the refining process was sulphur which is widely used in the fertiliser industry to make up for New Zealand soils sulphur deficiency. 

Sulphur is not even mentioned in the report.

Government attention appears to have been only on the possibility of fuel supply disruption and that is now being sorely tested with the price of fuel skyrocketing.

Consideration of the wider consequences of the refinery closure appears to have been lacking, and those consequences are now starting to rear their ugly heads.

It’s still not too late for the government to act and take ownership of the refinery to get it back into working order.

It’s not mysterious at all, but that will be how they’re required to report it.

A report that healthy young people are dying suddenly and unexpectedly from a mysterious syndrome has caught the eye of epidemiologists and analysts who have documented an alarming rise in excess deaths they believe is connected to the covid ‘vaccines.’

DailyMail.com reported Wednesday that in Australia, where some 95% of the population has been vaccinated for covid, people under the age of 40 are being urged get their hearts checked because they may be at risk of what is being called Sudden Adult Death Syndrome, or SADS.

It’s an “umbrella term to describe unexpected deaths in young people,” according to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and it occurs in people who are otherwise healthy.

All the U.S. Supreme Court decision did was state that abortion is not a U.S. Constitutional right, obvious because it’s not mentioned in their Constitution; it’s up to individual states to make their own laws and some of them are almost identical to those in Jacindaland (including Alaska which is controlled by Republicans.) But it has provided a great distraction for the Biden administration and Democrats — and Jacinda’s paid Mainstream Media — to misrepresent it and so distract from the consequences of their abysmal policies.

On Friday the occasion was marked by over 50 people planting 500 trees followed by a BBQ, with soup, lamingtons, decorations, a few drinks and lots of talking to each other. There was a simple welcome in Māori and a short prayer in English. Children had a great time and there was a marshmallow toasting for them too.

Although only 14 km north of Waikanae, Otaki is culturally rather different with a high Maori population.

The Maoriland Film Festival is an annual event and has films with an indigenous focus from both NZ and other countries. This year’s program with details of the films is here.
