This store sure has shot itself in the foot!
It seems not to give a Stuff about customer satisfaction, and may go on a nationwide boycott list.
Matua Maori Outcast said it well: the relationship between the gay and trans community and ordinary people as been sorely damaged by extremists. I was told by the chair of Rainbow Wellington that opposing men using women’s facilities is just as bad as going round bashing up gays and trans people.
It’s a shame: I’ve always liked Otaki New World. I remember well in 2020 when we went down a level from the hard lockdown and we escaped up the coast. At Otaki NW there was no anal wiping down of counters, and I was very amused when the assistant and I both packed the plant into a bag, with lots of hand contact.
This incident will go down into NZ Management textbooks as to how not to trash your business. It seems that the owner has never studied any management or marketing textbooks and has now tarnished the reputation of New World. What a numbskull.
Dear me, is the owner in the midst of some confusion about his own leanings?

I have never rated New World Otaki and have always tried to avoid it, and now it’s proven what a shabby little undertaking it is. Maybe New World will quietly give him the heave-ho.

We have now posted the video seperately. It will be a franchise operation and Mr Mullins will have bought that about the time he registered his company in July 2021. At the time he gave a residential address in Newlands, Wellington. The house at 21 Dunstan Street Otaki was bought in August 2021 at a price of $859,000. You wonder if he came into some money at that time and this was a recommendation of an accountant. Still it’s amazing that Foodstuffs are willing to have a twerp like this as one of their brand frontliners. They’ll spend lots of money on lawyers to comply with corporate law, yet they can have a public relations disaster like this from not having done due dilligence.
For many years, I have been boycotting places for various reason. It is people’s power. I made a decision to boycott Otaki New World after reading various articles about this. It appears to me that particular staff member created the drama and should have been reprimanded by his boss. Instead, a woman was banned. I disagree with the manager’s action.
Absolutely, the staff member should have been reprimanded. Shame on New World, Otaki! How dare they ban a person because of what is portrayed on their clothing. What on earth is happening in this dystopian country. We no longer live in a democracy. We must keep fighting against this sick, insane madness. Men are not and never will be women!!!!
I have been reading about the New World Otaki incident and have now decided to put in my sixpenny worth about New World, Kerikeri where the “day manager” one Tom Rider, on 21 September 2021, called the cops on me and 5 friends, 4 of which were/still are (jab free) pensioners. It led to me being issued with an Infringement Notice for failing to wear a face, the cops knew and acknowledged that I had an exemption, but, hey what does that matter. It led to a 6 month battle with the cops who, just 3 days before I was going to have my day in court and expose their lies, dropped the case. I then had a further 4 month battle before they withdrew the Formal Warning that they issued after the Infringement notice. The New World manager lied, the cops lied, the cops also with held exculpatory evidence, which I didn’t find out until I got the 200 plus page, yes, 200 plus pages, reply to an OIA request. There was an e mail from a “Police Adjudicator” by the name of Andy Cripps, a nasty piece of work, stated in his e mail that “if Waterhouse is disputing (Warning letter) it cannot proceed” he also called me “a vexatious litigant” which I can’t be as I have not, as yet at least, litigated against the cops. If he had called me ” a vexatious defendant,” I would have agreed with that. There is sooooooooooo much more to this both as far as New World Kerikeri and the cops are concerned, but that will keep. The lady who was the victim of New World Otaki should look into filing a Human Rights complaint and also a Personal Injury Claim against New World Otaki.
