This piece on the TVNZ website raises the obvious question — who are the ones really being racist here? Announcing that having the right ancestry gives people more rights in education and health, a bigger say in government and their culture treated as superior to everyone else’s isn’t going to have that backlash? Is it even possible for the Jacinda government and its acolytes to understand that?
Why can we not treat everyone as being created equal and have no discrimination based on ethnicity and skin color?
What is happening to NZ? I watched TV 3 last night on the issue of the country’s name. Paddy Gower and a couple on the panel were so biassed.
Poor subjective journalists, or is it that Gower and company are so compliant?
I have “Maori” neighbours and relatives. Fine people.
There are no 100% Maori. Are these activists shunning their European forbears. Their disrespect is shameful.
The Kiwi part Maori, from Otaki, trundling around with a petition to change New Zealand to Aotearoa had placards mocking Captain James Cook.
That is ‘racist’ and inane. What of Te Rauparaha who was based at Kapiti near Otaki? He took his tribe from defeat at Kāwhia to the conquest of new territories. The conquest was by war with killings (murders?) plus associated shameful acts which don’t need to be named.
If someone pointed these atrocities out, there’d be shrieking screams of “racism”.
I’d be only too pleased to ignore that past and get NZ back to being united.
So how does psuedo-journalist Paddy Gower see that?

Good times make soft men
Soft men make hard times.
This cycle repeats. Think about it.
The hard times (Spanish Flu pandemic, Great Depression and 2 world wars) made people tough.
Acceptance of reality, Discipline, thrift, hard work and traditional moral values were required to improve their lives.
This resulted in the shared prosperity of the “golden age” of the 1950s and 60s.
The political activists of the 1970s and 1980s rebelled against the system and values that had created the good times they enjoyed.
These Omnipotent Moral Busybodies joined and became influential members of the 2 main political parties in order to promote their “new age” beliefs and ideologies while the rest of the people were too comfortable to bother with politics.
Elected politicians serve the influential members and funders of the political party that chose, supported and promoted them to become elected.
“The government” has been increasingly promoting the touchy-feely, politically correct, woke doctrines of the peculiar minority of people who get to decide who the rest are allowed to vote for.
The Real wages (purchasing power) of productive working people have been steadily decreasing since the 1970s as we have become more fearful, indebted, dependent upon and controlled by “the government”.
As C.S. Lewis wisely said.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”
This minority of omnipotent moral busybodies (and others who help fund them) in the 2 main political parties control the current government and its expensive and incompetent bureaucracies because the rest of the people have become too soft and weak to oppose them.
The inevitable hard times, insecure jobs, inflation, poor wages, debt, fear and confusion are here again and “the government” is not going to solve these real problems.
What we need is hard men to join and become active and influential in the 2 main political parties to take the power over us away from the minority who are in control of them and who serves them in the government.

Yes, very strange indeed, where we have Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm” right under our noses, “all animals are equal but some are more equal than others”.
Last count has 175 bits of legislation favoring a special type of kiwi called a maori.
Just what constitutes one of these privileged people called maoris,nobody knows?Constitutionally there is no space for 2 classes of citizenship so they must have been legislated into existence. Practically speaking, they are human beings, no different than the rest of kiwi humans, but have been taught since babies that they are different and have special ancestors that gives them spiritual enhancement others don’t have or are able to acquire mostly relating to the natural world not accessible to non maori a parallel world of semi religion & hokus pokus maintained only by those in the “know”.
Additionally, since childhood have been taught that they are oppressed & disadvantaged & as such, entitled to special privileges’. This oppression has been caused by non maori that have come to “their” land ,so consequently must pay compensation in ever fanciful ways.
Any questioning of this is deemed to be even further racism against the chosen people.
The currentPM’s gvmnt sees this as a correct social structure, i e to have 2 separate people, & is leading us down a path to apartheid, the exact plague we ranted against in the 1960’s So. Africa.
Indeed a very good description of the problem but what about a solution?
Who has created and promoted all of this “indigenous” propaganda and why?
Who is going to oppose these fictitious notions and how?
IMO, it all comes from that small minority of Omnipotent Moral Busybodies who became politically active and involved in the National and Labour Parties and decided that the rest of us ought to feel guilty, apologetic and responsible for things that people of the past might have done to others and obliged to PAY FOR IT.
These same fools who feel entitled to right perceived wrongs of the past are also creating problems of the present.
Their political pawer and influence needs to be taken from them by more and more sensible and rational ordinary people joining, participating and changing the culture within the National and Labour parties
It would be a good idea for this country to have a democratic CONSTITUTION stating that all people regardless of their ancestry or other differences have equal rights and responsibilities.
The elite political minority that controls and funds the 2 main political parties do not want a Constitution because that would would limit their power and authority over the rest of the people.
People need to understand that they are not going to be adequately and fairly represented in government unless and until they become active in selecting the candidates that are available to the voters in elections.
